Recently, an energy storage product from CATL's EnerD+family has become one of the first products certified under China's pilot program for product carbon footprint labeling. It is also the first and only national-level carbon footprint label certification in the lithium-ion battery industry.

A total of 69 products were included in this nationwide pilot program. After undergoing multiple rounds of stringent validation and expert peer review, merely seven products from six enterprises secured official certification, , with CATL among them.

Furthermore, the mandatory carbon footprint disclosure requirements in the Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 concerning batteries and waste batteries are about to be implemented. The certification provides nationally recognized, traceable and internationally aligned evidence of the product's carbon footprint. This will help facilitate global market access for CATL's energy storage products while strengthening the international competitiveness of China's new energy industry.
Accurate carbon footprint accounting begins with low-carbon operations. As a global leader in zero-carbon technologies, CATL has achieved carbon neutrality across its core operations, with 100% of the electricity used in these operations sourced from zero-carbon electricity.
In addition to conducting rigorous accounting of carbon emissions across each product's full lifecycle (covering raw material sourcing, manufacturing, product use and recycling) according to national standards, CATL has established a comprehensive internal carbon management system. This provides a benchmark for carbon footprint quantification across the industry and helps advance carbon management practices in China.
In the future, CATL will continue working with partners across the global value chain to accelerate progress toward value chain carbon neutrality.
