The People’s Government of Sichuan Province signed an agreement on comprehensively deepening the strategic cooperation with CATL in Chengdu.

Recently, the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and CATL signed an agreement on comprehensively deepening the strategic cooperation in Chengdu. 

According to the agreement, the two parties will further broaden cooperation fields, deepen cooperation modes, improve cooperation mechanisms, and strengthen cooperation in the development of green energy resources, the development of new energy storage, and construction of “zero carbon industry parks”. The two parties also pledge to jointly enhance the development and utilization of lithium mineral resources, and promote the establishment of the southwest headquarters of CATL, so as to drive the high-quality development of Sichuan’s EV battery industry, and create a world-class comprehensive base for the new energy industry.

Since the establishment of Sichuan Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL-SC) in 2019, CATL has invested in and implemented various significant new energy projects in Yibin, Chengdu, Ganzi, among others, and has attracted several supply chain enterprises to build plant in multiple cities and prefectures in Sichuan Province. In the future, CATL will continue to deepen its footprint in Sichuan, and seize strategic opportunities in the field of new energy, to fully promote the building of a zero carbon industrial cluster in the province, and contribute to its high-quality and leapfrog development.
