LGMG and CATL signed strategic cooperation agreement.

On January 20, Lingong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd (LGMG) and CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Jinan, Shandong. Mr. Zhi Kaiyin, general manager of LGMG, and Mr. Lai Yongjie, executive president of CATL’s commercial application business division, witnessed the signing.

According to the agreement, the two parties will start comprehensive cooperation in aspects such as EV battery supply, research & development of technologies and products related to hybrid and new energy mining trucks, domestic and oversea market promotion, development of standards for new energy engineering machinery industry, and recycling of batteries. Additionally, the two parties will also focus on research & development and promotion of large-tonnage new energy mining products to provide global construction machinery customers with technologically advanced and industry-competitive electrified products, and jointly promote the leapfrog development of businesses of both parties.

Founded in 2012, LGMG is dedicated to providing mining equipment, aerial work platforms, special equipment and key parts, and holds a leading position in the industry of wide-body mining trucks and aerial work platforms in the world. It is also one of the top 100 global construction machinery manufacturers, and an active advocate and powerful promoter of the green, intelligent and international development of the construction machinery industry.

At present, driven by the national strategic goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the construction machinery industry is facing an urgent need to undergo energy transition, due to its high energy consumption and large contribution to carbon emissions. Together with LGMG and other global partners, CATL will leverage its expertise in core new energy technologies, so as to accelerate the development and widespread adoption of battery technology for construction machinery, and facilitate the industry’s transition towards comprehensive electrification.
