On September 8, CATL and Dongguan signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to boost green development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. 

Xiao Yafei, secretary of the Dongguan Party Committee, Lv Chengxi, deputy secretary of the Dongguan Party Committee and mayor, Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Dongguan Party Committee and secretary of the Songshan Lake Party Working Committee, Liu Guangbin, member of the Standing Committee of the Dongguan Party Committee and deputy mayor, Robin Zeng, chairman and general manager of CATL, Geng Jibin, chairman of Ampack, and Tan Libin, chief customer officer and co-president of market system of CATL jointly attended and witnessed the signing of the agreement. 

Xiao Yafei, party chief of Donguan, said that the city adheres to the concept of putting manufacturing industry first, accelerate the establishment of new pillars in local economy, and explore new driving forces for economic growth. The city also boasts abundant market entities and a broad cooperation prospect. Xiao expected that both parties could work together to promote the development of a green and low-carbon economy, taking Dongguan as a pilot to promote zero-carbon manufacturing and green electricity production. With the signing of the agreement as a new starting point, the two parties will continue to deepen cooperation, accelerating the development of new industries such as new energy, new materials among others, and exploring and developing new products and models, so as to promote the transformation and upgrading of Dongguan’s manufacturing industry. 

Dr. Robin Zeng, chairman and general manager of CATL, said that Dongguan has its unique characteristic of “technological innovation and advanced manufacturing” with abundant vitality, strong driving force, and great potential for economic and social development. It has always been one of the best places for investment in manufacturing, and the cooperation potential between the two parties is vast. CATL will fully leverage its own advantages to assist Dongguan in accelerating energy transition, creating a green, low-carbon, and circular economy system, and building a national demonstration city for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. 

Guided by the national strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, CATL will promote the development of the green energy industry with Dongguan, contributing to the efforts for the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and elevating China’s green development to a new level.
