On June 12, 2019, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), the world's leading provider of power battery systems, held a strategic cooperation conference with HelloBike and Ant Financial Services Group in Shanghai, establishing a joint venture with an initial investment of 1 billion yuan. The joint venture's aim is launching a battery-swap service to position a basic energy network of two-wheeled electric vehicles. The three parties will integrate the superior resources and capabilities of industry, operation, and travel mobility and comprehensively build a travel ecosystem to provide green, intelligent, and safe battery-swap services for two-wheeled electric vehicle users.

CATL will rely on the world's leading lithium technology to provide a first-class electrification solution for the two basic energy networks in this revolutionary two-round travel and power exchange program. HelloBike for its part will provide its existing battery-swap capability. All entities will invest in their own built permeable offline city network and efficient operation capabilities. At the same time, Ant Financial Services Group supports the battery-swap industry in all aspects, including platform entrances, e-mobility, and commercial systems. The three parties will jointly create a new model of intelligent travel. This combination system is composed of an intelligent lithium battery, intelligent switchboard, and backstage integrated intelligent management system, which can be applied to daily life commuting, urban commercial logistics, campus travel, tourist scenic spot traffic, and so on.

As two-wheelers become electric, intelligent, and lightweight, CATL has developed a deep understanding of the market demand, and has created tailor-made special power batteries for two-wheel travel, and will continue to upgrade batteries to the accumulation and analysis of travel data in order to provide more high-quality two-wheel battery products. The newest member of the CATL product family will have an independent brand name, and the battery will feature as long a life as batteries for traditional cars but will weigh only a quarter of traditional lead-acid batteries. CATL aims to redefine batteries for two-wheeler to promote a younger, safer, and more environmentally friendly image.
