CATL-Geely EV Battery Yibin Project's Phase I Starts Production
On December 19, the production kickoff ceremony for the Phase I of CATL-Geely EV Battery Yibin Project was held in Yibin, southwest China's Sichuan Province.
CATL-Geely is an EV battery manufacturing and service platform jointly founded by CATL and ZEEKR. With a total investment of up to 8 billion yuan (about 1.15 billion U.S. dollars) and a planned area of about 500 mu (about 33.3 hectares), the CATL-Geely EV Battery Yibin Project started construction in October 2020. After 14 months of construction, the plant has started production with a planned capacity of 15 GWh.
In the future, CATL and ZEEKR will give full play to their respective advantages in technology and manufacturing to actively respond to the challenges in the new energy market, strive to promote the sustainability and intelligentization of local energy transition, thus making greater contributions to global carbon neutrality targets.
